NIST Generative AI Risk Management Profile
A NIST cross-sector profile for identifying, measuring, governing, and managing risks specific to generative AI systems.
Also known as NIST AI 600-1
NIST’s profile treats generative AI deployment as an ongoing risk-management problem rather than a one-time model-selection decision. It complements the broader AI RMF functions of govern, map, measure, and manage.
For future Brain work on autonomous systems, this is useful evidence for continuous evaluation, bounded authority, documentation, and risk controls. It is guidance, not proof that one governance design is universally optimal.
